20 Things You Didn’t Know About Me tag

20 Things You Didn’t Know About Me tag

I wasn’t tagged for this, but it looked like fun so I’m doing it anyway. I saw it at Lola’s Ramblings.   1. How tall are you? I am 4’11” tall. This means I am frequently thought much younger than I am, I think the long hair helps with that assumption.   2. Do you have a hidden talent? if so, what? Uhm… I’m double jointed? Both my fingers and my elbows, so they bend and twist in ways that make others cringe. I’m also mostly ambidextrous, haven’t tried writing with my left hand, but I can do everything else… Read more »

The Everyday Witch (Beatrice Bailey #1) by Sandra Forrester (review)

The Everyday Witch (Beatrice Bailey #1) by Sandra Forrester (review)

“By the mysteries, one and all, Make me shrink from tall to small. Cut me down to inches three, As my will, so mote it be.”   This was more a middle grade book, not so much a young adult book. It was cute, and I liked some of the descriptions. I think I would love to have the dragon bed Beatrice sleeps in at the inn. And having a cat in charge of the inn was also a cute touch. It was a quick read, and I liked the characterizations of Beatrice and her friends. It was fairly obvious… Read more »

Vision in Silver (The Others #3) by Anne Bishop (review)

Vision in Silver (The Others #3) by Anne Bishop (review)

“Humans were like sticky vines. If you didn’t escape at the first touch, you got more and more tangled up.”   It seems like by the third book, Meg should be growing more. Or at least that’s what I’ve seen others complain about, as far as book 2 went. But in book three, you find out it’s only been 4.5 months since Meg came to the Courtyard. A lot has happened in such a short time. Especially for Meg, who led such a sheltered life before running away. And she is growing. She’s learning when she actually needs to make… Read more »

Moon Dance (Vampire For Hire #1) by J. R. Rain (review)

Moon Dance (Vampire For Hire #1) by J. R. Rain (review)

Samantha Moon was turned into a vampire 6 years ago. Since then, she has gone about her life as best she can, with no idea what being a vampire entails. She drinks cow blood, slathers sunscreen on herself, and became a private investigator. She’s a smart mouth, and has a habit of thinking every guy she meets is attractive. The book is full of cliches, but it was also funny and not a bad read. There are some editing mistakes, extra words and spots where a word was missed out on. But nothing that made the book hard to read… Read more »

How Do You Keep From Buying Books?

How Do You Keep From Buying Books?

Strange question for a book blogger and reader in general, I know. But I have so many books on my TBR shelf! I’m not even counting my Kindle TBR’s anymore since I have over 700 of them. My physical TBR shelf has *goes to count* 68 books on it, with 7 of those on a different shelf because they don’t fit! It seems like for every 1-2 books I read and review from that shelf, I’ll then go out and buy 4-6 more to add to the shelf! I’ve been telling myself this month that I am not allowed to… Read more »

Fantasy Creature Friday – Hippogriff!

What is Fantasy Creature Friday? It’s a discussion where I will talk about a particular creature every week. And what book or book series I think of when that creature is mentioned. Thanks to Anya at On Star Ships And Dragon Wings for letting me borrow her ‘link your blog’ idea. Buffy the Vampire Slayer by Richie Tankersley Cusick (review)

Buffy the Vampire Slayer by Richie Tankersley Cusick (review)

“Does Elvis talk to you? Tell you to do things? Do you see spots?”   It’s rare that I like a movie version better than the book. However since this book is based on the movie, instead of having a movie based on a book, I’m okay with not liking the book as much. I loved the movie, and reading this book… Well, it was like someone trying to describe the movie scene by scene. All the lines in the movie were transferred over to the book, all the scenes, etc. There was very little here that was original content… Read more »

The Elite (The Selection #2) by Kiera Cass (review)

The Elite (The Selection #2) by Kiera Cass (review)

A family member gave me this as a gift since I said I’d read the first one. I was really hoping it would be better than book 1, despite some of the comments I got on that review! Marlee had something horrific happen to her early on in this book because she was in love with someone other than the Prince. And despite seeing it happen with her own eyes, America still has these little ‘dates’ with Aspen with no thought about what could happen to her if they’re caught! She’s finally decided she wants to marry the Prince. And… Read more »

Books For Valentines Day?

Books For Valentines Day?

I know a lot of people who think Valentines Day is way too commercialized. It’s hard to go out anywhere because you have to make reservations weeks in advance. Even movies and parks are crowded. And everywhere you look, things are being pushed in your face that you ‘need’ to buy for your significant other. Candy, flowers, jewelry, toys for kids. If they can find a way to tie it in, they’ll push it at you and say you must get this to be a good boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband/whatever. I haven’t dated in years, but even when I was dating, I’d opt… Read more »
