Do You Blog More At Night?

I’ve been noticing a trend over the year that I’ve been book blogging. I’ve always been more of a night person than a morning person. So it’s normal for me to stay up til midnight or so on nights I don’t have morning shift at work the next day. Sometimes when I’m off the next day, or I’m really into whatever I’m working on, time will fly by and suddenly I’ll realize it’s after 2am!

So a lot of my blog posts are written at night. (Ironically, this one is being written at 3:30pm but that’s not typical.)

I also tend to answer comments on my blog late at night, and unless I happen to be at home during the day when new posts go up on the blogs I follow, I’ll read and comment at night as well.

And what I’ve noticed is that 9 times out of 10, the blogs I follow all seem to leave comments on my blog, or respond to my comments on their blogs at night! Some of my bloggy friends that I e-mail often send me late-night e-mails as well. I am totally unsurprised to get e-mails after midnight from them.

I am also likely to suddenly remember something I wanted to babble to them about and send them e-mails between midnight and 1am. And I know when they’re staying up late too because not only did I sent the e-mail way late (or way early??) but they respond to said e-mails before I’ve gotten around to getting off the computer and going to bed. Which then of course means I stay up later because I want to see what they had to say! *laughs*

So I was wondering if it was a bookish thing. How many of you lovely people are night owls? Do you tend to write posts and do commenting later at night? Are you one of those scary people who like getting up super early in the morning and doing all your bloggy stuff then? If you could only choose one time of day for the rest of your life, would you be a day person or a night person?

And off topic, but if you haven’t entered the September Wrap-Up Round-Up Giveaway over at The Emerald City Book Reviews, there are only a few days left and the prizes are awesome!

I tend to blog at night. I almost need to wait for everyone to go to sleep so I can really get into blogging. I hate that, because then I am so exhausted the next day. Great post! I am sure a lot of bloggers do it at night.

The nights when I know I have to get up stupid-early (like this morning I had to wake up at 6:30am and tomorrow too!) I tell myself I’m not allowed to stay up past 10pm at the latest. And then of course I’m still up at 11pm or midnight.

It’s funny because it happens without fail, but also not funny because then all I want to do the first 2 hours or so at work is sleep! *lol* Sorry to hear you’re forced to be that way and not just a procrastinator like I am though.

I am also more an afternoon, evening or night blogger. I always have been more of an evenign than a morngin person and now that I work from home and can determine my own schedule even more so.

I usually stand up at noon or 1 am and then stay awake till about 2 or 3 am. Which works great as that makes my schedule more in tune to most of the US bloggers as my time zone it’s 6 hours earlier than the east coast.

I usually do work before dinner and then after dinner I do some blogging. Because of the time zoen difference I receive most comments in the middle of the night and then reply and comment back the next day. Great post!

I’m glad I’m a night person, as if I wasn’t and I got most of my comments at night I’d feel bad for not getting to them before work in the mornings. Though, if I was a morning person that might not actually be an issue because I’d want to wake up early…

I’ve been a night person all my life, I blame my Dad because he is one too. *laughs* Good to know there are a lot of us! And I had wondered how far off your time was from mine. Must be nice to set your own schedule! I’d get into heaps of trouble doing that though, I’m too much of a procrastinator.

Sometimes I visit blogs while bored at work in the afternoons. And sometimes if it’s my day off I’ll do posts and comments in the mornings/afternoons. But 90% of the time I do all that in the evenings and late at night. I hadn’t expected this many people to be night owls! Makes sense though. *grins*

I’m definitely way more of a night person, so I write most of my posts either later on at night (as long as I’m not on a 5am start the next morning) or on my day off, as I find it easier to concentrate when it’s quiet and everyone else is either asleep or out.
I also tend to do a lot of blog reading/commenting at night as well (this comment is in fact a midnight comment!) so we’re definitely the same in that regard.
Great post! I had never really thought about this before because I have just naturally always been more of a night person.

5am is way too insanely early! I have issues getting up at 6:30am for work on the weekends. I think if I had to be up at 5am I’d cry! *laughs*

My days off, I’ll schedule posts and do comments at all hours. Just whenever I think to do it. But even then I tend to do a lot of stuff later at night. This occasionally offends my cat who will start banging on things and making a racket when she decides that it is time for bed! Instead of you know, going to bed without me. *laughs*

First morning person to post, yay! *laughs* I don’t think I could ever be a morning person. I have worse blonde-brain when I have to get up earlier than I want to. (Which is to say, anytime before 9am.) But I’ve always thought people who can get up and function that early are awesome. All the stuff they get done and then they have the whole day for other stuff. Instead I’ll just keep doing it all at night and pushing my bedtime back farther and farther… *laughs*

Pay attention to your kids? Why ever would you want to do that? *giggles*

My blonde-brain is more apparent in the mornings, so I don’t tend to write posts then if I can help it. Plus I don’t really want to get up extra early just so I have time to work on posts. I like my bed too much.

Unfortunately my schedule at work is never the same from one week to the next. Sometimes not even from one day to the next! So schedules don’t work well for me. And I’m fairly sure I’d procrastinate even if I did have a set work schedule so I could make a schedule for my blog.

I’m also easily distracted. Which is another point in the why I blog at night list. *grins* Sounds like you are way more organized though which is awesome!
