What is Fantasy Creature Friday? It’s a discussion where I will talk about a particular creature every week. And what book or book series I think of when that creature is mentioned. At the end of the post, you will also get to link up your own fantasy creature book reviews and discussions for others to wander through.
Thanks to Anya at On Star Ships And Dragon Wings for letting me borrow her ‘link your blog’ idea. She does a giveaway every Friday where you can win ARC’s and link up your reviews/discussions/giveaways. You should totally check it out after you’re done here!
This week’s creature is the:
Fauns are half human, half goat. From the waist up they are humans with goat horns, and from the waist down their bodies are covered with fur, have goat hooves and (in Narnia) long tails. They enjoy dancing and playing on musical instruments, usually pipes. They are shorter than humans, and have long lives. Though exactly how long their life is, only they seem to know.
Fauns and Satyrs are sometimes used interchangeably, but they are not the same species.
I have also read about fauns in the Xanth series by Piers Anthony, the Myth books by Robery Asprin, and a few others I have forgotten the names of. Have you read about fauns? What was your favorite book with a faun in it?
