Fantasy Creature Friday – Wyvern!

March 20, 2015 Discussions 5

What is Fantasy Creature Friday? It’s a discussion where I will talk about a particular creature every week. And what book or book series I think of when that creature is mentioned. At the end of the post, you will also get to link up your own fantasy creature book reviews and discussions for others to wander through.

Thanks to Anya at On Star Ships And Dragon Wings for letting me borrow her ‘link your blog’ idea. She does a giveaway every Friday where you can win ARC’s and link up your reviews/discussions/giveaways. You should totally check it out after you’re done here!

This weeks creature is the:

Wyvern!

Wyverns are similar looking to dragons, except that they only have 2 legs. Some have no legs at all and look like large flying snakes with dragon heads. Their tails are barbed, some species having poisonous tips. They are usually less intelligent than dragons, and most are smaller as well. They can breathe flame, and are very quick in the air. Most are scaled like dragons and other reptiles, but some species have feathers along the crest of their heads and down their necks.

Have you read a book that had a wyvern in it? Have you heard of wyverns before?

I am pretty sure I have read a few books with wyverns in them, but ofcourse I can’t think of any at the moment.
I have reviewed a paranormal romance book this week, but not sure if that would count as a fantasy creature.
On a more fantasy creature related note, I did got a book with dragon shapeshifters for review this week! It sounds really good!

Dragon shape-shifters sounds neat! Can’t wait to read your review! And I think PNR counts. They usually have some kind of shape-shifters in them, which are fantasy creatures. Or vampires, etc. So feel free to link away.

I know I’ve read other books with wyverns in them, I was just drawing a complete blank when I wrote the post. Still am really.

I only have read one book before about dragon shapeshifters and this one sounds really good! I like shapeshifter books, so I am hoping I will enjoy this one as well.

It always feels like when you need to remember a book which had something in it, I just can’t think of any example. While I know I have read some books with wyverns, I just can’t remember any.

The review I linked up was for a book which had ghosts and sort of demons I think, not 100% sure as it was the first part of a series and it was a bit confusing about what the demons where exactly.

*laughs* I learned about wyverns in… grade school maybe? I can’t remember what book I was reading that had them in it, might have been one of the D&D campaign books Dad had laying around the house that I later ‘borrowed’ to use with my friends.

I’m thinking the week that I come up with a creature you know about already and like, will be the week I find one I haven’t heard of! *winks*
