Dad and I exchanged gifts on the 23rd, since he’s been sick and finally felt well enough to. And I had to work on Christmas. He got me 9 different Tinkerbell statues. Apparently he got a really good deal on an auction! *laughs*
I got him 2 nutcrackers. A Darth Vader, and an R2D2. Because if he doesn’t tell me what he wants, he gets a random fun nutcracker. (He collects nutcrackers, so it’s slightly less random than it sounds! I just don’t buy him the traditional ones.)
The Darth Vader one is really cool, and bigger than I had expected. So he was fairly impressed and happy with them. Yay win!
We don’t really celebrate Christmas. Well, not exactly. I don’t celebrate Christmas, but I love to give gifts so it’s great fun for me. Dad and I usually exchange gifts, and I’ll send my best friends something, and then spoil the niece and nephew rotten. I sent them a total of 15 (I think? It might have been 18??) books between the pair of them, and then 2 fun gifts each.
Growing up, we did Christmas and had a tree and decorated and everything. I wasn’t raised with any religion, but we always did Christmas and Easter, Halloween and Valentines. Nana (mom’s mom) used to try to drag me to church when I’d visit her and mom. But I’d fall asleep and embarrass her, so that quickly ended!
Today was super slow at work, so I did a lot of reading, as well as poking around Pinterest. Speaking of…
The other day I came across this post about book bloggers being successful on Pinterest. I’ve been a member of Pinterest for somewhere between 1.5 and 2 years now. (Edit: Got curious and dug through my e-mails. Apparently it’s been FOUR years. Way, way off!) But never really used it a lot for my blog.
I have kind of an eclectic mix of boards. A number of food boards that seem to be popular. A few clothing, Harry Potter, Fae, pretty pictures, craft boards, animals, and whatever catches my attention enough to need a board for it.
I have one board for Books With Pretty Covers. And I’ll pin reviews to it from my favorite blogs as well as my own, if I like the cover. But the group boards that Stephanie and Brittany started sounded like fun. So I made 2 group boards of my own. One for Middle Grade book reviews, and one for Cozy Mystery reviews. Neither of which have lots of pins yet, but they’ll get there eventually I’m sure.
If you’d like to join either group board, just send me an e-mail and tell me which one you’re interested in and I’ll send you an invite. And of course, don’t forget to check out the ones Stephanie and Brittany have going!
Did you start any fun projects during the holidays? Since I had to work on Christmas, these boards were my distraction during a slow day! How did you spend the day?
