The big twist I saw coming very early on. That didn’t detract at all from the story though. Especially as I wasn’t sure of the why or the how. We also finally get confirmation about why Conmael has been helping Blackthorn. I loved the song/rhyme that’s given in bits and pieces and then finally in full in the book. I loved this one just as much as the first book. I also liked the fact we got to see the point of view of Lady GeilĂ©is as well as Blackthorn and Grim’s. The way the mystery unfolded, with the little folk and the fairytale feel of the story being told night after night was a really neat twist. You knew immediately that there was something not right, but I at least, had no idea what was going to happen with the curse until it actually happened. You know how most times, you pick up a book and start reading, and then you need to do something else like sleep, and say “at the end of this page.” or “at the end of this chapter.” Yeah.
