Magic, adventure and Chinese mythology is blended into this fun story. It’s been years since I read the first book, and so I didn’t remember much at all about it. Fairy Haven And The Quest For The Wand by Gail Carson Levine (review)

    The fairies seem to like finishing each others sentences. The last word one fairy would have spoken, is instead spoken by the next fairy before he or she says something of their own. It’s a little annoying to read. You also get only the barest hints of personalities for each fairy. Some of them would have come across as completely flat if I hadn’t know their personality from other books/movies/games.
