I’ve seen this book hyped as the ‘new’ Harry Potter. Every review I saw before reading it was glowing, not a single down vote anywhere. And the synopsis sounded like it could be good.     This book wasn’t quite what I was expecting. And that’s a good thing. It has shipwrecks, and curses and magic. History and fantasy. Outcasts, bullies, villains and a thirteen-year-old boy who is just starting to come into his own. The father reminds me a bit of the father in Mary Poppins, only colder.
